Created with the support of California Humanities, the Award-winning feature documentary, Making Waves: The Art of Cinematic Sound premiered at Tribeca and Cannes 2019, and quickly became a global critics and audience favorite. This 94 minute documentary was a New York Times “Critics Pick” and Audience Award winner at festivals in the US and abroad. It was nominated for a Critics' Choice Documentary and Women Film Critics' Circle Award, a Motion Picture Sound Editors Award, American Cinema Editors Eddie Award, and a Cinema Audio Society Award. This important and entertaining education tool features top cinematic sound pioneers and visionaries in the field such as Walter Murch, Ben Burtt, and Gary Rydstrom; iconic directors such as George Lucas, Ang Lee, Steven Spielberg, Barbra Streisand, and Ryan Coogler; as well as humanities experts in media studies and history.
